Andy’s Top Ten Attractions

I grew up in Coconut Grove and I must say it is my favorite area of South Florida. What makes the Grove so great is the mixture of incredible Bayfront parks combined with the incredible history that is all around you. Historic homes that housed some of South Florida’s founders litter this area and botanical gardens that will most certainly awe inspire you. Below is my list of the top 10 places to see when visiting our little bohemian village calledCoconut Grove.

#1 Viscaya Museum and Gardens

The winter home and gardens of industrialist James Deering built in 1912 and on the registry of National Historic Landmarks…..a must for any visitor to the area.

#2 The Barnacle Historic State Park

Home of Ralph Munroe, one of Coconut Grove pioneers, built in 1891 on a gorgeous bay property.

#3 Fairchild Tropical Botanical Gardens

Transport yourself to the tropic with an incredible selection of trees and flora, and a litany of special events throughout the year.

#4 The Kampong, National Tropical Botanical Gardens

The former estate of Dr. David Fairchild located on Biscayne Bay and featuring a cornucopia of exotic fruit.

#8 Venetian Pool

No one will recommend this place but me. Why? Cause only locals know this place. Cool water pool fed from a fresh spring in Coral Gables. Perfect on a warm, humid summer day.
