Shadi’s Top 10 Restaurants

What do you get when you combine the freshest seafood on the planet and creative menus with good hometown hospitality? Answer: Restaurants in the Florida Keys! You will find some of the most creative menus with all sorts of delectable from the sea but don’t worry there is also plenty for you land-lubbers as well. Below are some of my favorite eating spots from Key Largo to Sunset Key that I am sure you will enjoy. Bon Appetit!

#1 The Fish House/Key Largo

It doesn’t look like more than just a worn old shack from the outside but inside…..Yummy! The best and freshest seafood imaginable. Try the pan sautéed Yellowtail snapper….best fish I have ever tasted!!

#2 Latitudes/Key West

Located at the Westin on Sunset Key this place is the ultimate in fine dining with a view that cannot be beat. Start with one of their famous mojitos and work your way through the menu that includes coconut-crusted grouper and Key West shrimp.

#3 Pierre’s/Islamorada

This swanky, romantic spot, located on the second floor of a Colonial-style house proves that dining in the Florida Keys isn’t always casual. Menu features globally influenced French cuisine, including honey-soy-glazed quail and pan-roasted stack of lamb.

#4 Snappers/Key Largo

This lively, laid-back seafood spot features ocean views, Caribbean fare and some of the best rum-based tropical cocktails found in the Keys. Live music and dockside seating have made Snapper’s a Key Largo favorite since it opened in 1989.

#5 El Siboney/Key West

You only 70 miles from Cuba so you have to taste some of the delicious Cuban delicacies and no better place with its’ inexpensive Cuban fare ranging from Cuban sandwiches and roast pork to ropa vieja and palomilla steak. And don’t forget a little Cafecito after your meal.

#6 The Lorelei/Islamorada

Great happy hour with discounted cocktails with tables featuring great bay vistas. Live music and some great seafood round out what will be a fun and yummy experience.

#7 Keys Fisheries Market & Marina/Marathon

The seafood is still flapping around on your plate at this place it is so fresh. Well not exactly but it seems that way. Enjoy the conch, stone crabs, lobster, scallops and any of the number of catches of the day right off the boat. It is all fresh and good!

#8 Harriette’s Restaurant/Key Largo

I wanted to throw in one breakfast place and this is the best. Place is small so there could be a wait but it is worth it. Stop in Key Largo on your way south and enjoy the chorizo eggs benedict or guava cream cheese muffins. Creative entries to start your day that will surely satisfy any palate.

#9 No Name Pub/Big Pine Key

An off the beating path place that only the locals know about. Incredible pizza and wings and their fish dip is about the best I ever tasted. Been serving great food since the 1930’s with thousands of marked dollar bills stapled to the wall……add to the collection while you are there.

#10 Ms. Mac’s Kitchen/Key Largo

Boy the eating in Key Largo is very, very good and this place will not disappoint. Fresh seafood at reasonable prices and probably the best Key Lime Pie in all of the Florida Keys.
